Altoholic-esque Addon Recommendations

Postby Gwenythe » Sun Jul 25, 2010 3:34 pm

So I installed Windows 7 (/clap for the woman who no longer lives under a rock!) yesterday and have been having UI issues since. My settings don't stick. I've changed permissions to every possible .exe, I've removed the read-only flag on all folders, deleted rogue WTF folders not located in the WoW folder, double checked the launcher path, etc. So I did what I knew I'd have to but hoped I wouldn't have to: I deleted my WTF and Interface folders.

Well, I've decided to go with some new addons while I'm just completely ripping apart what took forever to build up. :?

  • Alt addons: I use Altoholic, but I think I'd like to try something new. It seems like such a memory hog and it sucks during raids. I used to use ArkInventory and I didn't really like that one.
  • An auction house addon: I use Auctioneer and it's nice and all, but looking to see what else is out there.

Does anyone else use anything different? I'm not really into LUA editing, so I'd like it to be easy to customize via WoW, not a notepad.

And no Luna, I'm still not moving an inch from Xperl. ;)

I laughed out loud when I read that. Why? Because as I was reading your post I was thinking, "You know..."

I don't run any Alt addons, seeing as I have no alts. Don't use an auction addon either, so, nothing to offer you. :D

For alts I use Possessions to check inventories and Professions Book to browse tradeskills.
I don't use any auction addons anymore. A long time ago I used to use KC Items but I don't know if that's even being developed anymore.

What other stuff does altoholic do that you can't live without?

Pretty much professions and possessions. I don't use it for anything else really. I don't care about talent specs, achievements, etc.

I use Auctionator, a lightweight addon for AH.
BankItems - to track what I have on alts. I like it cause it puts totals in item tips.
No addons to track professions atm.

I avoid huge addons when I can. Here are some other small addons I use:
FarmIt - to track the objects you farm, have in your bags or bank.
QuestItemBar - any quest item you pick up will appear on that toolbar for easy access.
Tipsy - allows to move tooltips on the screen and nothing else.

Second vote for Auctionator! It's very quick and lightweight... :pa:
